Toy Story 5 will feature the return of familiar characters including Woody (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen). After Toy Story 4’s events, Woody and Buzz are no longer together as they try to find their place in the world on their own.
Buzz abandons Woody and the other toys so that he can continue his existence without a child. Toy Story 5 is now in production, and while Hanks has yet to speak on the topic, Allen has already revealed his involvement and Woody’s apparent comeback.
Woody And Buzz Lightyear Will Return In Toy Story 5
Toy Story 5 will feature the returns of Woody and Buzz Lightyear, as announced by Disney Pixar’s chief creative officer Pete Docter. The filmmaker confirmed the February news that the two lead characters would return for the fifth movie.
Docter told Variety, “We have our share of sequels in the works. We have to balance introducing new characters and continuing established IP. We’re doing a sequel to Inside Out, so you get to go back inside the mind of Joy and Sadness. We have another Toy Story, so Woody and Buzz are back. And we have a few other projects, but it’s always a balance.”

Tim Allen, who voices Buzz, has already stated that he will reprise his role in Toy Story 5. This actor tweeted in February, “See ya soon Woody, you are a sad strange little man and you have my pity. And off we go to a number 5! To infinity and beyond!”
Tom Hanks is widely rumored to reprise his role as Woody for the fifth film, though he has made no official announcement. Elemental, directed by Peter Sohn and released earlier this month, is Pixar’s most recent film. Lightyear, a Toy Story spin-off set in an alternate timeline and voiced by Chris Evans, was released last year. Toy Story 5 has not yet been given a release date.
