He was born on March 11, 1989, in Leningrad, Soviet Union, where Yelchin’s family still lives. Irina Korina and Viktor Yelchin, his parents, were pair of figure skaters who had a starring role in the Leningrad Ice Ballet for 15 years.

He had gotten out of his car to walk down his steep driveway to check the mail and lock the gate when he was involved in a bizarre accident, as was later found by the police. And then it drifted downhill, putting Yelchin against the post. At age 27, he was declared dead on the spot.
