‘He’s Stealing Puppies!’ Interview With Guy Who Says Santos Used Bad Check To Steal Dogs Stuns Him.
As CNN aired an interview in which a guy claimed that Rep. George Santos (R-NY) stole pups from him by giving him a fraudulent check, Anderson Cooper got beside himself.
CNN’s Gary Tuchman elaborated on a story first published by Politico, saying that in 2017, while Santos was a private individual, he allegedly sent faulty checks totaling $15,125 to dog breeders in Pennsylvania’s Amish County.
A pet adoption event was conducted at his Staten Island business a few days later. A theft allegation against Santos was withdrawn after he reported that his checkbook had been taken.
One of the dog breeders, though, claims that Santos wrote him a faulty check. Tuchman spoke with a man named “Fred,” who requested that his identity be concealed.

TUCHMAN: So you’re suspicious because he’s going to pay with a check and you don’t take checks.
FRED: I told him, “I don’t take checks. All I can take is cash.” But he said, “Would you expect me to carry enough cash to buy a bunch of puppies on a trip like this? I do not have cash. The only thing I can give you is a check.” Well, I thought to myself, “Well, it looks like I’m done.”
