In WMMA, Amanda Nunes has been a trailblazer. She has high-level accomplishments in MMA that very few fighters have attained, and because of her resounding victories, she is a towering figure in the UFC. Born and reared in Pojuca, Brazil, Amanda Lourenço Nunes overcome challenges in her youth to become a renowned mixed martial artist. Despite having a difficult past, Nunes succeeded in the world of combat sports.
Nunes sought comfort in sports to let her energy out as her mother, Ivete, worked long hours to support the family. Her mother insisted that she prioritize her studies, thus she had to give up her first aspiration to become a professional soccer player.
Nunes, however, became passionate about martial arts as a result of being exposed to combat influences as a child, including her mother’s boxing background and her uncle’s Vale Tudo career.
At UFC 289 Amanda Nunes Declares Her Retirement
In the UFC, Amanda Nunes leaves as the champion. The 35-year-old defeated Irene Aldana by majority decision to successfully defend her bantamweight title. Immediately after the fight, she declared her retirement from competing.
Over the past nine years, Nunes has been as near to an unstoppable force as there has ever been in mixed martial arts. She has won 14 of her previous 15 fights, including the one mentioned above, and at UFC 277, she defeated Julianna Pea to reclaim the bantamweight title, making up for her lone loss in that time.
Nunes’ desire to keep getting better has recently been questioned, despite the fact that she has a Hall of Fame resume and is perhaps the finest female fighter in UFC history. Dana White, the president of the UFC, did it in the open prior to her rematch with Pea.

One of three athletes in UFC history who has simultaneously held two belts is Nunes. The other two are Daniel Cormier (light heavyweight and heavyweight) and Conor McGregor (featherweight and lightweight).

The Brazilian superstar, who has held the featherweight championship since December 2018, enters as the bantamweight and bantamweight champion. Aldana received her first UFC title match somewhat late as compared to other fighters. Nunes and Pea’s third fight was supposed to be the main event, but Pea fractured his ribs while practicing.
Aldana was announced by White as the replacement for the May 2 main event. Although she had a meager 7-4 record in 11 UFC fights before into this one, she had won four of her previous five contests, including three by knockout or technical knockout.
Aldana had a significant step up in competition with Nunes, and the champion showed it with her eight successful title defenses throughout her illustrious career.
