Adelaide Hall died of natural causes in the early hours of November 7, 1993, at the Charing Cross Hospital in London, England, at the age of 92.
Her funeral was held in Garden City, New York, at the Cathedral of the Incarnation, and she was laid to rest next to her mother at the Cemetery of the Evergreens in Brooklyn. This was carried out in accordance with her intentions, which were respected.

Adelaide Hall was born to Elizabeth and William Hall. Adelaide and her sister Evelyn attended the Pratt Institute, where William Hall taught piano. Her father died on March 23, 1917. Three years later, on March 25, 1920, Evelyn died of influenza, leaving Adelaide to care for her mother and herself.
In 1924, Hall married Bertram Errol Hicks, a British sailor born in Trinidad and Tobago. Not long after they married, he became her official business manager and opened “The Big Apple” in Harlem, New York. She worked very hard to establish her name.
