Adam Levine’s Early Music Career.
In February of 1994, Levine, Carmichael, and Madden, together with a mutual friend named Ryan Dusick, created a band they dubbed Kara’s Flowers. Levine provided vocals and guitar for their debut performance at Whisky a Go Go in West Hollywood in 1995. Tommy Allen, a record producer, saw the band play at a beach party in Malibu and signed them on the spot.
The 11-song CD Allen and his business partner had Kara’s Flowers record led to a record deal with reprise records and the band’s producer, Rob Cavallo. In August of 1997, the band dropped their debut album, titled The Fourth World.
The band also made an appearance on Beverly Hills, 90210 that same year. After finishing high school, the lads tried to promote their CD with a tour, but they were unsuccessful. Kara’s Flowers disbanded shortly after Reprise dropped them due to poor record sales (about 5,000).
Maroon 5
Levine and Carmichael relocated to New York after the group’s dissolution to attend Five Towns University. Soon enough, Kara’s Flowers reunited, but this time with a new look: they added a fifth member, switched out one of the old ones, and changed their name to Maroon 5.
Before he became famous as a musician, Levine worked as a writer’s assistant on the CBS sitcom Judging Amy. Adam composed a number of songs and poetry about his ex-girlfriend Jane during his time on Judging Amy. These ideas would evolve into “Songs About Jane,” Maroon 5’s first platinum-selling album, released in 2002.
Two years after its initial release, the album became a surprise hit, selling 10 million copies and ranking as the tenth best-selling album of 2004. In 2005, Maroon 5 took home the award for Best New Artist at the Grammys. The following year, their smash hit “This Love” won the award for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group.
More than 30 million records have been sold globally since Maroon 5’s debut. This includes 10 million albums sold in the United States alone. They’ve also sold over 30 million digital singles. Both It Won’t Be Soon Before Long (2007) and V (2014), by Maroon 5, debuted at the top of the Billboard 200.
Hits by the band include “Harder to Breathe,” “This Love,” “She Will Be Loved,” “Sunday Morning,” “Makes Me Wonder,” “Moves Like Jagger” (with Christina Aguilera), “Payphone” (with Wiz Khalifa), “One More Night,” “Maps,” “Animals,” “Sugar,” and “Don’t Wanna Know” (with Kendrick Lamar), among others.
Maroon 5 hasn’t stopped making music or going on tour. They’ve put out 30 singles and 23 music videos in addition to their six studio albums and three live albums. In addition to his many Grammys and other accolades, Levine has also been honored with a number of Billboard Music Awards and American Music Awards. Adam Levine has not only sung with Maroon 5 but also on hundreds of recordings by other popular musicians.

It’s not Adam’s first time on SNL. For the 2012 season of American Horror Story: Asylum, Levine played a recurrent character. The filming of his sequences as Leo Morrison occurred around his touring commitments with Maroon 5. The next year, he joined the cast of the musical romantic drama Begin Again, alongside Keira Knightley and Mark Ruffalo.
Levine’s been on The Voice, NBC’s hit singing competition, as a judge and coach for contestants since 2011. Having joined the show, Levine’s fame and influence have skyrocketed. A lot of people say he’s the show’s most interesting character.
The Hollywood Reporter estimated in 2013 that Levine was earning $12 million every season of The Voice. After 16 seasons and 8 years on The Voice, Levine quit in May of 2019. He was praised for both his performance in the film and the film itself.

Adam and his business partner, Josh Gummersall, started 222 manufacturing in 2018. Their debut effort, Sugar, was a web series for YouTube that was based on the music video for the Maroon 5 song of the same name. Songland, an NBC reality competition series produced by 222 Productions, premiered in May of this year.
This is Levine’s role as executive producer. In February 2012, Levine started his own record company called 222 Records. Adam Levine’s Real Estate.
Both Adam and his wife, Behati, are skilled property flippers. Some of their most important property acquisitions and transactions are detailed below:
Adam spent $34 million on a 12,000-square-foot Beverly Hills mansion in March of 2018. Will & Grace creator Max Mutchnick sold it to them. It was originally owned by Pete Sampras and his wife Bridgette Wilson before Mutchnick purchased it from them in 2008 for $14.5 million.
Adam and Behati renovated their home for $7 million over the course of a year, and then put it on the market in April 2019 for $47.5 million. Obtaining their asking price would result in a $5 million profit for them in 12 months. In 2018, Adam sold three Beverly Hills residences, including a $13.5 million home to musician John Mayer.
He spent $17 million on a Holmby Hills mansion in 2017 and proceeded to gut and renovate the place. Midway through development, he lost interest and sold it for $18 million. He paid $5 million in 2012 and still owns a sizable Beverly Hills property he purchased at the same time.
Adam and Behati bought the Pacific Palisades home formerly owned by Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner in early 2019 for $32 million. In 2009, Ben and Jen bought a home for $17.55 million. Adam and Behati put their property on the market in March 2022 for $57.5 million. To put that in perspective, they paid about $25 million less just three years ago.
Adam and Behati bought a 5-acre mansion in Montecito, California for $22.7 million in March of 2021. To everyone’s surprise, they sold the building just three months later for $28.5 million, a roughly $6 million profit in just 90 days.
Adam and Behati spent $52 million in March 2022 to purchase the property in Montecito that actor Rob Lowe had constructed. In 2005, Lowe bought a 3.5-acre plot of land in a neighborhood called Oakview.
The current 10,000-square-foot residence was constructed by Lowe and his wife. In 2009, construction was finally finished. In June 2018, the Lowes put their property on the market for $47 million. In October of 2000, they sold it for $45.5 million to a private equity tycoon. The private equity tycoon sold Adam and Behati their home, which they then acquired.
